Optimizing your Web Pages

There are a few key components that are crucial to optimizing your web pages. They are :

The domain name

Key words

Unique content

Bold or italic keywords in the text

The Title

Meta tag descriptions

Using headers

Using Anchor text

Site maps

The longevity of the website

Let’s start with the domain name. Here is how the domain name is used with search engine optimization. Before you start a website you will have a pretty good idea of what niche market you will be attracting; therefore, your topic or main niche keyword should be included in the domain name. For example; if you were going to start a search engine optimization website, your domain name might be “learn search engine optimization”. If your key word is in the domain name, you will be on your way to having a great optimized website.

Keywords are the most important part of search engine optimization. Your keyword should be in the title. The keywords should also be in the first two hundred words of your article. The key words should also be in the beginning of the article, the middle of the article, and at the end of the article. The keywords should be included in the keyword meta tags, and also in the description meta tags. This technique is properly optimizing your web pages with the keywords used on the web page or in the article. This task must be accomplished to optimize your web pages.

Unique content is very important as we have already discussed in this course. You must have unique content on your web pages to be properly optimized. DO NOT use PLR content, you will be wasting your time with PLR articles. Take the time to write your own content for your website.

In your articles you can bold or use italic on your keywords once in your articles. You do not want to over bold your keywords in your articles because this will make the reading of your articles harder for your readers. You can also use the “H-2 or H-3” headers for your keywords. This method will be used with the html format. Most of your new web design software makes this task much easier to accomplish.

The title of your article is also important. The keyword should be included in your title. The title should also be eye catching where a reader will want to read the article. Use the “H-1” header tag for your title. If you do not know how to use these headers, you must learn, it will be crucial to your web page optimization.

Meta tags are also very important. Meta tags let the search engines know what is on the web pages of your website. You can use up to two hundred words to describe your web page in the meta tags. I recommend that you keep the description under fifty words in your meta tag.

You must use headers when optimizing your web pages. The main headers you will be using is the “H-1, H-2, or H-3” headers. The H-1 header will be used on your title. The H-2 and H-3 will be used on your top key words. Some web design tools allow you to use more headers for your key words; however, if you bold the other keywords once in your article, you can accomplish the same thing. I use the H-1 header for my titles and the H-2 header for my top key word. The rest of my keywords are bold once in the article. This seems to work well for my websites.

Anchor text must be used when optimizing your website or web pages. Anchor text is basically a hyperlink used on a certain keyword within your article that draws attention to the reader. An anchor text is also a back link used to send or tell the reader about another webpage related to the keyword that is hyperlinked. The primary function of an Anchor text is to link to another website or another web page on the same website for a particular keyword. The search engines love anchor text, and is a must to properly optimize your web pages.

Site maps are also important. You must have a site map on your website for the search engines. The search engine crawlers will visit the site maps first because site maps lets the crawlers know where to explore on the website. Make sure your site map does not contain over eighty categories. If you need more category space, use sub-site maps for the additional web pages. Search engines will not explore a higher number of categories on one page or on your site map.

The longevity of the website also plays a role in search engine optimization. The longevity of the website will only be a factor providing that your website is properly optimized.

Now that you know how to optimize your website I have to give you some bad news. All of the above work is necessary; however, your search engine optimization is only half done.

To complete this process of search engine optimization, you must build incoming links to your website. Building incoming links can send your website ranking straight to the top providing it is done correctly. Before building your links you must understand that it is not the quantity of links you must strive for, it’s the quality of links you will want to obtain. To put this in simple terms, you will want to obtain links from high ranking websites to send your own rankings to the top of the search engines. The software SEO Elite can help you with this task by providing contact information on high ranking websites for your same niche market. Another way you can accomplish this task is by contacting the top websites on the search engines result pages for your top key words. Yes, you will need to persuade them to link to your website somehow, but if you can get theses links your website will shoot to the top of the search engine results.

Another way of building links is to get involved in article marketing by writing articles for article directories. Ezine articles is ranked number one in the search engines and is also a great way to get incoming links to your website. You can write an article and then spin it or rewrite, and then give it to additional article directories online. There are over five hundred article directories that can give you incoming links for the articles that you write. One written article can be rewritten or spun five hundred different times giving your unique articles to submit to the different article directories. You could easily get five hundred incoming links from just one written article. (Imagine) if you wrote twenty-five or even a hundred articles for all of the directories. The number of links can be endless.

There are also link directories that your website can be posted on. Most of these directories are free but some cost a few dollars to get listed. The software I use for this task is Directory Submitter, which keeps track of the link directories I have submitted to. The software also fills in the blanks for you when submitting your links to the directories, saving you even more time with this task. There are about twelve hundred directories included with this submission tool. You’ll get tried of submitting to directories long before you run out of links to submit to online by using this software. I do not normally like to use submission software, but for this task a link submission tool makes this process much easier and I recommend that you use a tool like this one to submit your links online.

Another way of achieving incoming links is by writing and submitting press releases. Writing press releases work like article marketing; however, the press release is usually a much shorter version compared to an article. Press releases are also written in a certain format; therefore, you need to understand how press releases are written before submitting a press release.

Let’s Recap Getting Incoming Links:

Your links can come from high ranking websites

Your links can come from article directories

Your links can come from link directories

Your links can come from writing press releases

Keep in mind any incoming link into your website can help your search engine ranking such as; banner ads, text link ads, or other advertisements linking back to your website. The only form of ads that do not help your ranking is Google Adwords, which I feel should help you but apparently they don’t.

You must build your link popularity with incoming links where the search engines can view your website as a popular online site. This is how your website gets its ranking position. Everything covered in this course helps you get there, but the popularity gets you ranked higher.

Do I Have to Submit my Website to Search Engine Directories?

This question comes up a lot as it relates to search engine optimization. The question is this. Do you have to submit your website to the search engines? I’m going to answer this question yes and no. You will have to submit your website to the search engines if you do not attempt to get incoming links to your website. If you get a lot of incoming links coming into your website, the search engines will find your website when the crawlers are doing their exploring. I feel that you should always strive for incoming links; therefore, you do not need to submit your website to the search engines.

The last thing I want to cover in this course is the fact that you must monitor your website in the search engines. When you make changes on your website, you will need to know if the changes were positive or negative as it relates to your search engine rankings. The Rank Tracker tool works great for this task. It helps you monitor your website continuously to enable you to keep up with not only your changes but other website changes as well. You have to stay on the first page of the search engines to achieve a massive amount of free web traffic from the search engines.

My top recommended tool for search engine optimization has to be “Rank Tracker”. This decision is based on not only the price, but also what it is capable of doing for you and your website.

I hope this free search engine optimization course has been useful. Search engine optimization is a continuous task that must be part of your daily or weekly routine. It’s hard making your way to the top but staying there is even harder. To your success!
