 I wanted to develop an internet marketing course to help all of the readers who have supported Learningmethodsonline.com over the past two years. As you know, this site has made a few changes over the past year and I continue to make it better each month. This site began as a google adsense site, and then developed into a site to help anyone who wants to succeed online do just that.

Learning methods online is really about just two accomplishments, one - making money online and two - internet marketing strategies. In reality, if you can market a business online, you can make money, it’s just that simple!

Over the years I had many struggles and somehow continued until I was able to work from home with my online businesses. Although, this took several years to accomplish, the end result was the same; I make a great online living. Over the past ten years I learned what was necessary to succeed online, and I wanted to give some of that knowledge back to the world free of charge, in an internet marketing course, which makes this course the best internet marketing course available online.

This internet marketing course is going to be short; however, the information provided will be very powerful.

This internet marketing course is broken into two different sections. Both sections are equally important. Section one discusses the planning process of internet marketing to include; finding the right product to sale, developing an internet marketing plan, and setting up your website for free traffic though search engine optimization. Section two of this course will show you traffic generating techniques. There are a total of four web pages in this course. Do not skip section one, it is very important!

After reading this course you will understand the concepts behind internet marketing. I have made this course very simple and easy to understand. If you read this course and apply what is learned from this course, you will succeed online. But first; you must learn the proper methods and strategies. You must also avoid wasting your money on costly advertising mistakes.

So, let’s jump into this course and begin learning.

What is internet marketing?

Internet marketing is any strategy used online to market an online or offline business. Now, notice that I mentioned online or offline business. There are a lot of companies using the internet to advertise their business online. This means you do not necessarily need an online business to implement online marketing strategies. The fact remains, most companies who market online usually have a website even if it is a small website telling others about their business. As far as this course is concerned, we are going to assume that you have an online business that you wish to promote. What I want you to understand is this; Internet marketing is any strategy that is utilized online to market a business, product, or service.

To give you a better understanding while reading this course, I want to market a “widget” As you know a widget is anything you want it to be with the understanding that if it can not be marketed, it can not be sold.

Lesson One

The first thing we want to do is make sure that the widget will sale. There must be a need or a want for our widget, or it will never sale no matter how great our marketing strategy might be. This is a huge mistake that new online business owners make; they try to sale an item that is not wanted or needed and then wonder why they can not make money online. Another mistake I have seen is trying to market an item that everyone else is trying to promote. It seems that everyone sales a few of these items, but no one gets rich off of the item. With this said, the key is to find a “widget” that is not saturated in the market, making sales easier to make. That is a key internet marketing strategy that must be utilized appropriately before attempting to market any given item. Finding a product that someone wants is the easy part. Finding a product that no one else is selling can be a difficult task; therefore, you must research your product first. To be honest, unless it is a digital product that you have created, it will not be the only product, and even then there will be products somewhat like it. Here’s your solution, find a niche market. Don’t go after the entire car when you can sale a specialized part. There are niche markets all over the internet that you can be part of without trying to compete with ninety percent of all internet sales. For example; internet marketing and making money online is a very saturated and a competitive market. There is almost no more room in this market, but new web owners spend time and money trying to make it work, and still wonder why they fail. They would have a much better chance of succeeding selling Jeep doors. One more point, wholesale products that can be purchased all over the net. These are usually the same products you see everywhere online. Why do you think people continue to sale these useless products? It’s simple; web owners are buying them cheap and stocking their garage hoping they will be able to sell them, which will take about twenty years to sell them after they mark the product lower than the purchased price. Do not get caught up in this trap, it will drain you financially causing you to give up on the entire internet market and making money online. There are great products out there that can be purchased and sold, but you must do your research first if you are going to succeed.  

Assuming you have discovered or created your own widget that has a good chance of selling, you’ll be ready to move to the next step of our marketing plan.

Lesson Two

You must have a plan. Your plan needs to be complete adding everything that is required. Approach this plan as if you were writing a business plan for a bank loan. If you do not have a plan, you will be too scattered and not able to stay on track with what you want to accomplish.

There are some people who can find a product, make a cheap website, get some pay-per-clicks, and start making money. This is really luck, but it can happen. Making money online and marketing is just that simple, but it is not the mind set to take if you want to make a consistent living online. There are others who do not have much money to advertise their online business and will need to learn strategies where they can make money as well. So, for our widget, we going to assume that we money for our advertising expenses.

No matter what your budget is, you must have a well thought out marketing plan. This would include marketing expenses, and how you plan to market your widget. It is always a good idea to have a list of marketing strategies and implement these strategies at different times. This way, you will know what strategy worked best for your widget. Once you discover this method, most of your advertising cost will go into this method. Keep in mind, the more advertising methods you implement, the better chances you will succeed. I utilize a lot of different strategies to market my websites when they first go online, and then move my marketing expenses to new sites. By the time I create a new website, there are usually enough visitors to sustain the previous site. I owe this to keyword rich articles, keywords, and search engine optimization, which I feel is a must for any website. If I did not plan this method from the beginning, it would never work and provide free traffic. That’s why making a marketing plan first is the most important thing you can do when marketing online. Although this lesson took me about five years to learn, it saves me thousands of dollars a year, generates a great income, and keeps me in business.

Lesson Three

You have your widget and your marketing plan, now you are ready to move toward the next step. The next step will be on web design and selling your products online.

Before I go into web design, I want you to consider eBay and other auction sites as a quick solution until your site can be finished. This way sales can get started. I sold a lot on eBay a few years back. I was selling digital products for a few dollars. This was not that much money, but you must understand I was not selling on eBay to make money. I was selling to build a unique list of customers. “Remember The Well Thought out Plan I mentioned earlier that keeps coming back. A plan is very important. Back to my point. On eBay I was able to build a large list of customers that I continue to sell to when I create a new product or promote as an affiliate. Ebay can also teach you a lot about customer service and operating an online business. Some who sale on eBay are successful while most fail due to competitors, or just capture names like I did while making a few dollars.

Web Design

Web design is very important as it relates to internet marketing. What I am speaking of is search engine optimization. This is where the free traffic comes from and the technique used to obtain it. In order to obtain this free traffic your website must contain at least twenty keyword rich articles that are optimized for the search engines. I try to create at least one hundred articles before moving onto a new site. Build it, leave it, and they still come.

Most new wed designers build a site fast, buy some web traffic (PPC), and still wonder why sales are not being made. You must have your plan, which contains keyword rich articles. Knowing that my site will need articles, I do not just write articles and post them. I do the same thing as successful online marketers. I use a keyword tool first like Word Tracker. I search words in my niche and I write articles around the keywords I like the best. I do not use word phrases that have a large number of hits, I often times use a word that gets between five and fifty hits a day, mostly lower numbers because most people do not use them, causing your website to be ranked high in the search engine listings.

If you are going to make sales, your check out system must be easy to use. It is said that thirty or forty percent of all customers checking out decide to not make the purchase once they arrive at the checkout page. There are two reasons for this; one, shipping fees are too high, and two, the checkout system requires too much activity. Keep it simple and keep the process moving. One more thing, do not sell junk! You will want your customers to return which gives you free web traffic. If you sale junk, this will never happen.

Let’s talk about landing pages. When you are sending potential customers to your website you do not have to send them to your home page. Most visitors arrive at your site for a brief moment, and then they are gone. If a customer is looking for an item, they do not want to know about you or your site when they are shopping for an item. Send them to the product page for the sale and they can learn about you and your site later. This technique works best when using google adwords or other traffic generating links.
