There two main purposes for link strategy marketing. The first and main purpose of link strategy marketing is to improve your website ranking in the search engines, which provides website traffic to your website. Almost all of this traffic will be free, and is also why this strategy is utilized in internet marketing. The second purpose of link strategy marketing is to provide links all over the internet on other people’s websites where you can get additional website traffic from the links. The sole purpose of link strategy marketing is to receive website traffic, visitors, and potential buyers.

Exchange or trade links with other website is just that, you trade your links for other links; both are placed on each of the websites. This is also considered to be reciprocal link trading. There are pros and cons to this strategy. The pros are these links will help you with search engine ranking and possibly bring you traffic. The cons will consist of your visitors leaving your site to visit the site attached to the link you posted for the other site. If you are going to use this method, make sure you give the other website a reason to link to your site. You will have to provide quality information or a reason to make this strategy work.

Viral marketing – This method will consist of writing and posting articles, writing and giving away free ebooks, and making videos that can be posted on video sites. All of these methods will contain links to your website giving you additional web traffic. The sole purpose of this advertising is to get the traffic, not make the sale.

Joining forums, blogs, and online communities – This method will require you to post messages about a particular subject on forums and blogs with your link attached. Online communities will consist of social media sites like joining face book, twitter, and other social media sites.

Press releases – You can write a press release with your link attached. Do not make the mistake of thinking you can only write one press release for your website. Some marketers write several press releases a month. Be sure to learn how a press release is written before submitting a press release.

Paid links – paid links consist of any type of advertising that includes your link. This would include; pay per clicks, banner advertising, solo ads, text ads, and many more.

Linking Strategies you should Avoid;

Submitting your site to link farms – this is a fast way of getting your links across the internet; however, it comes with penalties from the search engines.

Interlinking sites on the same server – The search engines hate this strategy, and if you do it, you will not see any results from the strategy.

Buying numerous links at one time – The search engines will notice this change and this will actually hurt your rankings instead of helping it. You should strive for no more than about twenty links a months to be safe.

Blog spamming – If you blog spam, you can get black listed and reported as a spammer. At all cost avoid spamming not just on blogs but everywhere. If you are ever listed as a spammer, you’ll always be listed as a spammer; this is very hard to over-come once you have been black-listed

Without valuable content on your website, you’ll be paying for all of your website traffic; that is, if you want visitors to arrive at your site. Content plays a major role in delivering free traffic and is a technique that I highly recommend.

Building links and link popularity can be a difficult task and a lot of work. The search engines like to see a lot of links for ranking purposes; however, these additional links can not be added over-night. Mass links should be done over time, where you are not penalized for having the links to your website.

You should also be persistent with this linking method. Like everything else it takes time to master and achieve the results that will make the difference. Continue this strategy and before you know it, you’ll have links all over the internet.

If your efforts fail, you can always start an affiliate program to sale your service or products. With an affiliate program you can have an army of affiliates doing the advertising for you. Be aware this comes with a price, usually half of the sale.

Always post your site on search engines and online directories. This is a “freebie” that you must take part in for some easy results.
