Promoting a Successful Affiliate Program
Affiliate programs are a great way to make money on the Internet. An affiliate program is no more than a super charged referral service via the internet. Basically, you are doing nothing more than pre-selling products, and then sending the potential customer to the website to make the sell.
There are basically two types of affiliate programs. The first type of affiliate program is the affiliate program you promote for someone else. The second type of affiliate program is the one you own and operate while your affiliate members promote your products for you.
Affiliate programs are building everyday on the internet and they are promoting products all over the world. You might want to join an affiliate program if you come across a great selling product. Do not join an affiliate program to promote a product that you know nothing about. You should actually like the product you are trying to promote. You should review the product prior to promoting it. I do not promote any products I do not like no matter what the commissions are paying. The reason why I feel this way is basically because I feel I am putting my reputation on the line if I promote the product. If I like it, I will promote it night and day; but if I do not like it, I will usually pass without getting involved with the affiliate program. One of the main reasons why you can make money promoting someone else’s products is the fact, all you have to do is send a customer to the website that is selling the product through your affiliate link. You do not need a website or a product to make sells with this technique. Some of the affiliate members already have websites and they just add the affiliate’s links to their existing websites. Other affiliate members use Google Adwords to advertise their affiliate links through Google’s search engine.
Now that we discussed how to promote an affiliate program, let’s discuss how the fee structure differs from one affiliate program to the next. The manager or the owner of the affiliate program sets a commission price he or she is willing to pay per each successful sell. These commissions are usually thirty to fifty percent of the total selling price. It’s not uncommon to see commission prices as high as seventy-five percent of the selling price. If you are wondering why someone would pay you this much commission to promote a product for them that they have designed, the answer would be “back end” products and the life of the customer which means future and repeat sells for that affiliate owner. It’s also better to get a little profit than it is to get nothing at all. The great thing about this new life long potential customer is the fact that you did absolutely nothing to get them other than set up your affiliate program. A lot of individuals spend a lot time promoting affiliate programs, but just think instead of promoting someone else’s product, you had others promoting your own products and affiliate program. You could still make that same fifty percent commission, but you would not be spending your time promoting other affiliate programs, they would be promoting your affiliate program for you. In return you will be getting free web traffic, a new customer for future sells, and a chance to sell “back end” products. Not to mention, you’ll be making more money.
If you want to make huge amounts of money with an affiliate programs, it needs to be your own affiliate program. Before you can accomplish this task, you will need a product. This product needs to be a product that everyone will want to buy, but also a product that your affiliates will want to sell.
To succeed in your affiliate program you will need some software to manage your affiliate program. You will need to automate your website with a sign up program, tracking programs, contracts, payment options, and an automatic check disbursement program. Along with these tools you will need to put in a lot of work to making sure every piece of the program is set up correctly and working properly prior to promoting and advertising your affiliate program.
To get affiliates to sign up, all you have to do is have a great product, and pay your affiliates a high commission fee once the sell has taken place.
The advantage of having your affiliate program is the fact that you will have a lot of new links coming into your website and this ultimately means a lot more web traffic. This will also produce more sells and better positioning in the search engines.
The only disadvantage to operating your own affiliate program is, having to do a little extra work to set up and manage the affiliate program. Other than that it’s a win, win situation for everyone involved in the affiliate program.
Keep in mind there are numerous affiliate programs you could promote in any niche market. I would also recommend that you do not promote an affiliate programs if the commissions are lower than thirty percent, however, if the cost of the product is a much higher product that sells great, you may want to reconsider the commission fee.
Promoting affiliate programs can make you a lot of money. The technique I have found that works the best is having a niche website category with fifteen to twenty affiliate links in that niche market. But do not stop there! If you had ten different websites in ten different niche markets with twenty different affiliate links on each website, you’ll find yourself with a very profitable affiliate promoting system. I have found that this is the best way to promote your affiliate’s products with minimum efforts while saving money on web traffic.
Promoting affiliate programs is easy and should be a part of your making money online strategies. The money is there, but you have to drive the traffic before you see the money.
