                      Selling Products Online

 

Let’s define the term product.  A product is anything that can be bought and resold for a profit. An online product is usually a small item; however, it can also be a large item if a profit can be made from reselling that item. A product can also be created then sold for a profit, but in most cases a product is bought, marked up to a higher price, and then resold. Online products are usually in the categories of novelties, general merchandise, learning materials, music, electronics, and just about any other item that can be resold online.

 A lot of money can be made by reselling products. This method of selling has created many millionaires and will continue to create millionaires as long as supply and demand is in existence.  

 The question that is most often asked is what type of products should I sell?  First, you have to decide on a product to sell. The product you choose will make the difference and the outcome of your success. The product you choose must be desired by others and your customers have to be willing to buy the product. When dealing with products, the single most important rule is; find out what the customers want then give them that product. That simple rule can make you an automatic success online. 

How to sell your products:

 

There are a number of ways you can sell your products. Off line you would utilize flea markets, fairs, special functions, house parties, malls, garage sales, and basically anywhere people will gather.

 

Online you would utilize websites, sale’s pages, online auctions, emails, ebooks, blogs, chat rooms, eBay, and affiliate programs. There are many more ways to sell your products online, but selling online is basically about marketing because you will need to get the customer to arrive before a product can be sold.    

 

 Problems with selling products:

First of all, if you are selling products you must keep an inventory where your orders can be sent to your customers after the order is received. Keeping inventory can get expensive and it takes up storage space, but you must have inventory in a product selling business. Drop shipping is not an option. The other problem you might run into is the fact that your purchased inventory may not sell. In the online world customers are looking for great deals. This also makes selling products difficult due to the fact you will be competing with other online marketers probably selling the same products. When this happens the market for that product becomes saturated and no one is able to move their inventory. This is big trouble because you are then stuck with the inventory that can not be sold, unless you want to give it away. In a saturated market the big online marketing gurus will crush your business. That’s just another reason why you should learn all you can about marketing creatively.

 This is the way I sell products online. First of all; if everyone is selling the same type of product, there is no money to be made with that product. If the same product can be purchased at a retail store close to your customers, then there is no money to be made with that product. Next, if there is no desire for the product, even if it looks cool, there is no money to be made with that product. Last, if you can not market your product correctly, there is no money to be made with that product. Don’t let this discourage you; there is a solution to this problem. Your solution is this; find out what your customers want to buy and then provide that product to them. Your product needs to be unique, desired, and worth the price your customers pay. Do not sell your customers junk, they will not return to your business after buying your junk. 

The positive side to selling products:

There are millions of products that can be sold for profits. You do not have to bring in the largest profit for that product, all you have to do is make a profit and duplicate the process over and over until your business is a success. For an example; if you can make a two dollar profit on an item, all you have to do it sell it five hundred thousand times and you will be a millionaire. This is a little extreme, but I think you get the point. Most people try to make that twenty-five dollar profit margin on their products and then wonder why their products are not selling. A profit selling business is easy, can be profitable, and can make you wealthy, but you can not be greedy during the process of selling your products.
