
The Proven Search Engine Optimization Strategy
Let’s start out with this article by saying; if your website is not designed for Search engine optimization, you need to go back and master this right now, even if it means designing a new website. You can not have a successful business online without utilizing proper SEO techniques.
Search engine optimization is the most important thing you can do for a successful online business or website. Search engine optimization is also known as SEO. If you want to compete with the other website owners online, you will have to learn and master proper SEO. This technique is very simple to use once you learn what is required to make your website search engine friendly. By creating a search engine friendly website, your website will rank higher in the search engines, giving you tons of free and self generated web traffic.
There are a few key factors that your site must possess to rank high in the search engines. Here is a minimum list you should learn and master.
Domain names
Titles
Headers
Keywords
Meta tags
Sitemaps
Unique Content
Links
Longevity of the website
The domain name of the website is important. If you are attempting to sale search engine optimization products, your domain name needs to be related to the products or services on your website. Some people make the mistake of getting a domain name that is not related to their products or services. This is not the most important part of SEO, but it will surely help you rank higher by a few positions if this is done correctly.
Titles on your pages are also important. Each web page must have a title explaining what the topic or page is about. For search engine optimization, the title should also be listed under the header (H-1) in the html codes. Try to make the title unique, and eye catching for your viewers. Search engines will look at the titles first before moving onto the webpage, searching the content on the page.
There are two headers in the html code that are important. Header one, is for your title on the webpage. Header two, is usually for your top key word. You can use additional headers for additional key words, but only use the additional headers and code for only one keyword.
Keywords are also very important. Keywords will make the difference in a successful website. These keywords must be chosen correctly. Do not go after the keywords like “internet marketing” because you will be competing with over a million websites. Try keyword phrases like; “marketing on the internet” or something else about marketing to better your chances of getting visitors. You should never use more than twenty keywords per web page if you want to attract to correct website traffic. The lower your keywords, the better chances you will have of getting the right visitors to your website. Keep in mind; it’s not always about the numbers, but connecting with the right visitors or potential buyers. By the way; you should have at least five keywords per web page. Keep the numbers between five and twenty, and you should be fine with the numbers.
Meta tags are also important. Meta tags are brief descriptions about the web pages on your website. Each page should have a brief description known as a meta tag. Most of your web design software makes this task easy for you to complete; however, you must fill in this information.
Sitemaps should be used on every website. The site map is very important because the search engines begin their search of the site on the site map page. A site map will make crawling of your site much easier for the search engine crawlers. The site map tells the search engine crawler where to go on the website, making this process very easily to accomplish. If your website does not have a site map, you must create one to become search engine friendly.
Unique content has always been a key factor in your website’s rankings. More is always better, but the content has to be original to make the difference. Search engines also like to see content added on a regular bases; meaning that you must add at least one article on your site per week. I use to think if I added a lot of unique articles to my site it would rank higher in the search engines. Unique articles do help; however, it is only a small piece of your ranking position. With that said, you still need to add content weekly.
The ranking of your website in the search engines is also based on the number of links you have coming into your website. The more incoming links you have, the better your website will rank in the search engines. To accomplish this, you must submit your site to link directories, write a lot articles, and trade links with other websites. The important part to trading links is to trade links with website that are ranking high in the search engines. You will probably need a ranking tool to find these websites. If you can get links from these websites, you’ll be better positioning your own website as well.
The longevity of a website can also make a difference in your website ranking. The longer your website is in existence, the better your website will rank, providing it is properly optimized for the search engines. Don’t just believe that a long existing website will rank higher than other websites. Your website must be optimized correctly for the longevity to help you.
I have just given you a crash course on search engine optimization. At the minimum you should follow this advice and make sure your website contains all of the mentioned objectives to improve your rankings in the search engines. High rankings in the search engines will give you a lot of free web traffic. Optimizing your website may take some time but it is well worth your applied efforts.
